finding a rest

February 18th, 2009

From quite afar I heard song playing. A familiar tone to the drums inside the ears. Quickly I realized it was coming from a small electronic device that capable of a 12-inch loud speaker. Haste not I picked it up and answered the call. It was from the friend.

He seems to had something in his mind. Cloudy yet calm dark sky. One could still see the tiny little bright light up there, appearing in every sub-seconds. It seems to be that way, especially after they have decided to wash the hazy skies of the heart of Klang Valley.

the night

the night

I grab the car key which I tossed on the desk as I reached home earlier when the sun begin to hide himself behind the horizon. The key piled up among the mountains of dump I accumulated over the days. Some papers. Some are scribbled notes. Some printed with the royal face. Some with numbers. It turns out to be a mess anyway.

My lady was ready as she purrs when I pressed on her. And off we headed to the point of rendezvous. This friend of mine, dressed in black suit pants and pressed white striped shirt without the breast pocket. He made it easier for me to pick him out amongst the crowd of two. Only he who dressed that smart in the time like this. The other one make it even easier with the casual jeans along the brown sandal and a cotton-made t-shirt, which I suspect it has to be coming from the big land above us where the child workers which is a common there.

My glass was served filled with the gold color liquid. Creamy on top, with the strong crisp aroma. It reminds me of my first encounter with this liquid, where it gave me the taste of the back of the tongue. Leaving my throat dry and quenched for more. As I emptied the glass, it kept refilled till to the brim. Once it left the cold glass going into the living cells, I begin to feel the warmth that came from within. When the millions of receptors that below my skin brushed along with the cold humid air of the stale night, the sensation of the cold breeze at night is undeniable. My heart felt calmer. The head can feel the throbbing heart, pulse rate at every single second.

the Beer

On that particular table of a size of 22-inch diameter, the three of us exchanged words. Words that does not need any affirmation or total understanding from each other. When everyone kept silence, the Chinese songs that playing on standing order filled the air. I familiar with few titles will sing along, in humming way as if like i am singing.

Once we cleared the bucket, I make the move and excused myself to be home. That is why I am here still here, blogging to furnish. It is as my thought that matters.

“People come people go”

A nicely put statement that there are some things we cannot hold on to. Change in life. People in your life are seasonal. They make your life full variety, sometimes to the brim. That what was happening to my work place last year. Few good men left the company for a better and greener pasture. My blog still green but hoping that my job will become more greener this year.

When these great men left the company, they are opening the position for newcomer. Hence it was the beginning of the recruitment process last year. Many came for the interviews but as the story goes, only the few good ones are being shortlisted.

It was made known that whenever the management hold the interview with the candidates, a few good fellow will make their way through to the pantry to fill up whatever they had in their hand. Some bring a mug to wash. Some just wanted to fill their bottle with water. Along the way, they would stop by to take a sneak peek at the candidates. One of my colleague made a far bolder move. A step ahead whereby he had the audacity to message the boss about the candidate. He was commenting on the outlook of the lady he saw the boss interviewing.

Move forward to this year. By now the left side of my cubicle is filled with newcomer. Two of them to be precise. Both also are very sweet young thing. In fact, they seems to spike some communication between the sales and the technical. I guess the sweet young things do made a lot of difference. In the whole three years of tenure, the technical side does not drop by often to the sales side for some chit chatting. If you can hardly imagine, my office has only single floor, divided between the technical side and sales side from the entrance.

In fact, few of them were very obvious. I can almost see them everyday stopping by their cubicles for a chat or two. Like Ryan said, just because of the piece of it. At least that proves them to be normal rather than me being cold.

Asides from this, on yesterday the boss gave out a petal of rose to each and every ladies in the company. Just for Valentine’s Day sake. Curious, by the end of the day I spoke to one of the very old timer in the company. I asked if the boss ever pull this act before since the company established? The answer “…this is the first time”

Interesting to see what is happening around my workplace. Guess that the moral story from Dilbert did make a lot of sense.

feast of love

February 12th, 2009

There is this chameleon called me to tell me that if I do not watch these movies, then there will be shit falling from skies and all the beetles will die.

And of course the above is nothing but imagination and fiction. It has been a while since my last post. Life could not be much easier on me than said well done. Along the way, I picked up few good titles to watch. Most of them I never saw on the cinema. The silver screen just choose something far more commercialized movies to show.

There goes some movies that really I find it not just amusing but worth pondering. Here are some of the list I had watched recently.

  1. Seven Pounds
  2. Ip Man
  3. Ghost town
  4. Numb
  5. Feast of love
  6. Cadillac Record
  7. Burn After Reading
  8. Away From Her
  9. Aurora Borealis

These are some worth watching movies.

Too bad that the only thing that sells are those commercialized titles. Could it be because the society is too shallow? Or is it because there are something much more than just the story itself. The message or subliminal points the writer trying to get across.

“Sometimes you don’t know you’ve crossed a line until you’re already on the other side.”

dog chasing car

February 1st, 2009

The stillness of nights the whole week has nothing in relating to the yearly event we, the Malaysian Chinese are celebrating. With the ban of the firecrackers and stuff, it just make the forbidden even more lovelier.

By now, a week passed by. Nothing seems to change the fact it is just a prolonged holiday non other than pure gambling gaming sessions among the family members and friends. The dying city no longer deserted like the good old days. Yes, it is still breathing life on the first Chinese New Year. Many folks of the city has made KL their hometown. I know I had. It has been all these while. My father never keen on going back either.

By tomorrow night, there will be thundering sounds of the firecrackers breaking the silent of the night. The Hokkiens will be putting up the firecrackers. It has been since the tradition. All along with the sugar cane, which the legend told that saved the entire clan. Hence, at least to my own personal delight that is the ideal atmosphere of Chinese New Year.

The smell of burning crackers, the smoky dark sky and the ground bathed in red. This sight can hardly be found in the city anymore. When we advanced, we have to make way for the new things. Old culture, old practices going to make way.
