I know this was coming. I mean the wedding and sort. Just that I never expected he would actually called me up and then asked me to help him out. I did extend my offer and it wasn’t just a lip service. Having not knowing what I can do and what to offer, I barely just told him he have to tell me what was needed for me to help him to do.

Knowing that having such wedding ceremony. Wedding dinner, the setup, and stuff is a lot of hassle. It did not just happened between the bride and the groom. It involves the entire both party families members and friends. So that could be tedious trying to please everyone.

When the other day L called me up asking if I could help me to compile some songs for the wedding, I knew that I couldn’t say no. It was a straight-forward “a friend in need is a friend indeed” situation or the other way round. No idea. Maybe the entry here can help to clear it out. Since I have agreed to help out, I begin to search for songs that can be used.

With the help from her, I managed to compile up to 49 songs. Some of them seems cheeky and some of them doesn’t fit in the context. There are more to come but then again, I thought these few would be suffice. L have to go through these before he can come back and tell me about it. He asked about the song during the “Toasting” which I totally slipped out of my mind.

Just now, I manage to get him another title “A Moment Like This” by Leona Lewis seems to fit. I don’t know. I am merely suggesting. The best part will be what songs he will use and which songs will be dropped out from the equation.

This is the year I got my D80. A humble beginning and a baby step into photography. Throughout this whole year, I only taking pictures. Not those rock your smelly socks of that kind of pic. Rather, something I see from my perspective. Something mundane.

Going through my archives for 2009, here are the 9 which I considered them as the exposure into photography. Well, they might not be perfect but somehow I felt connected to it. It is tough to choose to because over the course of one year, I was exposed to various areas of photography. Ehmm…Here it goes

1. Going Cameron Highlands – Escaping the ache

When I got my lens, it was the first outing bring my d80. Learning how to take a nice photo. My first compliment from Sasha that at least this one got ‘bokeh”

2. My First Oversea – Land of Smile

It was my first trip ever that involves an international flight and leaving the country. My first stamp on my passport. Going there to Bangkok with Wingz and Yap Thomas, it was nothing but just 1 word – “FUN”

3. KL Marathon 2009

My friend’s dad was participating in the run. I decided to join in the fun not to run (coz I can’t) but eventually take some photos. Stumbled upon few coursemates and Spiderman. It was fun nonetheless. It taught me about being responsive and it was after all, just a split second moment.

4. Model Shooting One

First time going out on a model shooting with again Wingz, he intro-ed me to Kenny Yeoh, Alvan Choong and several more photogs. Their experience and expertise in certain area taught me about photography. Again I learned that in order to improve one skills is nothing but more shutter counts, exchanging experience and learn from others. Thanks guys.

This time of the year, another new shop was opened. I was asked to help out to capture the priceless moment. Hence I dropped by just manage to take a few shots. Moment like this required fast action. Knowing what to take and how to get it. :\ sadly to say, I lost quite a moments there. Otherwise it would been nice. Too many blurry pictures.

6. First Wedding Cover – Pressure

My high school buddy – Darren returned from Dubai and asked me to cover his wedding. Helping him out to take the wedding pictures. Not the album but rather cover the whole day event. I was a little reluctant fearing I couldn’t take the nice shots. It will be sadly disappointing. He nonetheless reassured me it will be okay. Only then I dared to take it a try. Luckily it turned out not that bad. I learned that lesson from Wingz, “burst”

Taken during my birthday dinner. Not a big throw out party but nonetheless it was a pleasant one. I believe more to come. Hehehe. I like this picture because it seems mysterious. A surfboard and a shoe. Dark vignetting around whether is it due to the light in the room.

My first animal shooting. Taking the photo of the dog. Thank to both of them making the shooting easier. Otherwise it would have been tough. Too bad the weather was bad otherwise there will be outdoor shooting.

That day CK called me asked me to join his father to downtown. His dad wanted to give offering at a temple. I bring my d80 and he bring along his d70s. Both of us were snapping from Petaling Street to the Curve. It was fun. Let’s do it again !

With the project365 that I am currently doing, I am hoping it will grown on me. Taking more photos and getting more exposure through the year 2009 have taught me a lot. Especially with my friends that have expertise in various field.

Let just see what is in store for 2010. Onward 2010!!!

The first movie to watch in year 2010. Legion. Out of so many choices, we decided to go for Legion. Instead of hopeless comedy from The Spy Next Door and The Tooth Fairy, we chosen the Legion.

Apart from the non-censored dialog which full of the “F” word, I find the movie pretty bad. Seriously apart from that and the brutal killings, it seem the movie is just so. Of course the action with heavy shooting was fun to watch. Especially on the killings.

Nonetheless, the pace of the story seems to be dragging. The plot. Totally disappointing. And it seems to say that God eventually give up on humanity. Well, in the end the hope was restored with the exception that the apocalypse has already begun. It cannot be undone. So humanity left to the hand of the sole saviour – the baby. It is said that the baby holds the hope.

Well, the plot is simple, direct and promised full of potential for a epic effect with the dramatization. Yet when it ended, I feel something is missing. It does not capture the audience in a sense like Avatar did.

Personally. My rating 3/10

This year around I made up my mind. I’m not going home. That’s where my shelter is. To what I have become and to what I used to like being a part of. Time have changed. Changed me from one to the other.

For the past 4 years I turned up for I shared the same passion with this family. When my direction changed, it seems going back will be awkward. Finally I feel that it seems to be an utopia for me. When I no longer breathe the air they breathe. I no longer speak the lingo they speak. I chosen what the commoners choose. The road that is taken. It is safer that way. Everyone is taking it. There is no need to feel shortchanged. It just easier that way. Really it does. Being part of the average people is. Nothing extreme. Very comforting.

Yet then again, the statement from him playing in mind. “You never believe in yourself that you can be great” Something like accepting to be mediocre. Mundane.

I want something else to get me through this. Seriously. I do.

Being a guy, living in the reality of the life sometimes takes more than just island. Men called the same sex regarding them as brother, bro, dude or any other kind as this reflecting the deep relationship despite not having any blood ties. Here we do called them ‘macha’ too.

The Bro Code

I was trying to write an entry regarding the term used by the guys between the guys as also mentioned in the book “The Bro Code”. Likelihood that entry will not make it since I haven’t even started. Anyways what I have in my mind now is rather an astonishing thought about calling the guys bro. I would have guessed that each and every guy will have certain perception when they call the other guy ‘Bro’, ‘Dude’, ‘Brader’, ‘Macha’ or etc.

Here’s my perception. Back then when I was young I really think that bro before hoe. Maybe it was the upbringing where growing up watching the triad society and system, the old story where they talked about camaraderie and stuff like that. That was when I started to put brother ahead of anything else. Eventually things started to change. Brotherhood slowly treated as something less importance. I always thought I would put brother in front of anything else. Not even parents or the loved ones.

Now I come to realization that that is not certainly what I want. Parents and the loved ones come first. Blood is always thicker than water. That is rule #2. However, when it comes to brotherhood it should never come behind the materialistic stuff. At least that’s what I think about of.

A couple hours ago I was meeting up with a buddy of mine. I called him bro – short for brother. But I knew that it is not just bro. I treated him as a friend. I regard him as brother. Someone I really take into consideration for the number of years we went through together from high school to date. Such friendship is hard to find about when it takes years to build upon. So when a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Let’s just call him L. L looks a little worn out today. He haven’t had any much sleep as he was busy preparing for his upcoming wedding this weekend. This further added that his fiancé was admitted to hospital for some body checkup. So it seems that he have to deal with it alone at this moment. I felt sorry for him because I can’t be much of help. Therefore I was hoping that Lord will grant him strength and wisdom to deal with it.

One of the issues he is having seems to be the list of songs to be played during the dinner. I managed to prepare a list which I planned to put it up in the other entry. Yet I missed out a song for the toasting. My bad. I met up with him in A&W Taman Jaya to pass him the list of songs. During that course, I overheard he was trying very hard to seek a car – the Bridal Car.

D who is our common friend was the one L seek out to use D’s car as the bridal car. Reason? The Chinese always wanted a big car to use as a bridal car so that it looks good. Luxurious. Stuff like that. Good omen. Good. D did not confirm or said ‘No’. He just leave it open. It is like not answering. So L seems to be lost and not thinking straight.

Well D is well known for his obsessive concern for his stuff. Someone I would put in as “protective” and care of his belongings. So it is fine when the D reluctant to lend out his car. Perhaps I have different expectation and view when it comes to bro! Oh well, that’s life I guessed. Material things can be gained over the course of time.

Whatever might happened, let’s just pray that L will manage to get a bridal car soon.
