Personally, I think it is a good film given that Tsui Hark is flirting with 3D although I find the first 15 minutes scene rather lame. Overall, it was rather pleasing to see the remake of the Dragon Gate with a twist. Sadly, the script was rather loose and I was wishing that it can go deep dive into the characters.

Sherlock Holmes - A Game of Shadows

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law had a good chemistry in the first film, which leads me to wanting to watch the sequel. However, it gave me much disappointment. Greater than what I watched earlier. It was rather shallow and easier to pick up. I can’t deny I was enjoying the liveliness of movie but I was expecting much more from the master detective. If the 3rd installment were to begin, I think it shall ended up somewhere like the Pirates of the Caribbean. Overrated and sleazy storyline.

Movies aside, I finally putting an end to my no more charger to charge my batteries. I got a new charger.

Maybe on the other hand, after reading a while I tend to think this is not what I am hoping for when I buy the book. I was more of a detailed application of each fallacies. Instead, I ended up with just a few short comments basically, most of which is tongue and cheek and by the time I reach to the last pages, not beneficial.

How To Win Every Argument

Of course when I begin reading this book, I was joyous with the exceptionally wonderful collection of logical fallacies. It teaches critical thinking and how to argue… or at least debating each argument from my workplace later on.

Still, it is a good read. A thumbs up recommendation.

Happy Merdeka Day, Malaysia

Last night, three of us Jason Joshua and me had a Kaka Bak Kut Teh after catching the Captain America: The First Avenger. A movie that I delayed for a month since it is screen on the silver screen.

Anyway, I came to know there are too many rebooting for the movies especially the superheroes genre. It is rather bored. I am expecting something else. Something out of the ordinary. No doubt looking at the reboot Spiderman trailer just awesome. The web swing, wall cling view is marvelous.

I think the franchise was still fresh even it was like 10 years ago but the whole storyline seems to happen like yesterday? Sam Raimi did a good job in the franchise. The choice to make Tobey Maguire the Spiderman is just right as how Christopher Nolan make Christian Bale the Batman.

Perhaps they wanted to put Spiderman in the Marvel Universe in the silverscreen? Just like how DC plan for the Batman & Superman reboot?

Oh well….

Meanwhile, I think the Captain America : The First Avenger is a good film. It does many things in a proper pace. Character development, stage and action. It just being good. Not amazing but just admirable good when it comes to Joe Johnston. The script was defined will to pull all the Marvel heroes in their movie universe – which will leads to the Avengers movie.

The classic shield-tossing moments was interesting. Although people might be questioning where do the Vibranium comes from. Anyway, the pace for the movie is rather tight keeping your feet to ground. While most superheroes being rebooted to their dark side (notely Batman, Spiderman and even X-Men) the Captain America is just inspiring. Just being who Captain America is.

Given that you are aware of his skillful human engineering in hacking, together with a basic knowledge of IT will helps you to understand the basis of hacking/intrusion. Reading his work, I find it tempting to try out the tendency of human to ignore the basis form of protection in their network.

Likewise, it is hard to find real examples of hacking until I been taught by a friend. Just an introductory class to hack, he actually taught me how to exploit a vulnerabilities using Perl on a very old mail server which was last patched in 2005. We did it in year 2008.

These accounts counted by Kevin in his book enlightened us from a simple hacking to reverse engineering. While all these might think you will learn about hacking from this book which will lead you to disappointment. There isn’t much being taught in this book but it sort of allow you to understand the mindset of the hackers.

And if you like this book after reading it, you might want to peruse the Art of Deception. His very first book.

I am still reading this book and enjoying it immensely. Taking my own sweet time to digest each and every piece of Haiku inside. Realize that the serenity of the haiku poetry is explored in depth and details of the observed. Followed by the author’s interpretation of every poem is simply provocative and evocative through.

Haiku Mind

It’s a great book to relax with, whenever your mind is wandering. Just take a piece at at time. No need to be a follower or expert of haiku to enjoy this book. Simply enough the author interpret it for you.
