Eric’s New Housemate

Eric invited his parents over to visit him during his degree in UK. When they drop by his accommodation, Eric decided to cook the dinner for them and introduce them to his housemate.

During the course of the meal, his mother couldn’t help but noticing how charming Eric’s house-mate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between Eric and his house-mate, and this had only made her more curious.
Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Eric and his house-mate than met the eye. Reading his mom’s thoughts, Eric volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you Kenny and I are just house-mates.”

About a week later, Kenny came to Eric saying, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I’ve been unable to find the silver gravy ladle. You don’t suppose she took it, do you?”

Eric said, “Well, I doubt it, but I’ll write her an email just to be sure.”

So he sat down and wrote: “Dear Mother, I’m not saying that you ‘did’ take the gravy ladle from my house, I’m not saying that you ‘did not’ take the gravy ladle but the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.”
Several days later, Eric received a reply from his mother which read:

“Dear Son, I’m not saying that you ‘do’ sleep with Kenny, and I’m not saying that you ‘do not’ sleep with Kenny. But the fact remains that if he was sleeping in his own bed, he would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mom.”

Lesson of the day …Never Lie to Your Mother
