Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa
I wouldn’t have watched this if not tagging along with Joshua and Jason that particular night.
According to Joshua, it is said to be the most expensive local production at a cost of RM13.6 Million. This time around it is about the legend. A legend of become what part of Malaysia is. I guess. Something to do with the history where we need to learn the literature or ‘Sastera’ we called it here. This local made movie, getting loads of positive reviews from the local media after the premiere earlier this Monday.

The storyline was indeed good. Thankful for that to compensate the choppy editing. Overall, the CG effect is acceptable partly because I think it is a leap from what we (the local) has been doing. Of course it can be done better. With room for improvement.
The costume design was awesome. Totally able to differentiate the different roles and character. I kind of liken the Gerudans were to be tattooed as form of distinction between the locals.
Oh, the script were nicely done with injection of some humor in it. =) what I like best was the time when they were reciting poet before making love. Perhaps words were the aphrodisiac back then. Just how poet can turns one on. 
Needless to say, I’m glad I tagged along with the two to watch it. At least in my humble opinion it is worth watching it in the cinema. On the side note, KRU Studios sold the distribution rights of this movie to United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and 22 other countries in the Middle East.
We should make movie like this.. another Hikayat perhaps?
