holding the umbrella

November 5th, 2009

Recent weather leave much to dwell in. Rainy season and the hot blaring sun just something we lived by in Malaysia. Hot and humid. As I drove across the streets of KL, I makes me to think about the umbrella at times like these.

Nothing reminds me of Leon Lai when the rain comes and the umbrellas going up. Back in the times of my high school, I attended tuition classes at Kasturi. One of the teacher that taught us Mathematics teaches us this formula to remember how to calculate the distance given the speed and time. It goes like this.

“Lai Meng carry umbrella” – in Cantonese.

Hence, in Cantonese the umbrella can be denote as J with the pronunciation where as the Lai Meng defined as L and M. The formula or equation is in Malay language meaning Jarak = Laju x Masa (Distance = Speed x Time)

A very creative way to remember this until even to date. It was 12 years back during my PMR time.
