Kluang Station Coffee

Since I have decided to attend a friend wedding’s lunch at Kluang last weekend, I thought of why not stay over for the night so the next day I could try out the famous Kluang Coffee.

The business started as early at 7am and closed only on Thursday. So by the time reached the place, it was already jam packed with patrons. Local and tourists alike. Placed an order for a lot of food. The waitress was surprise if I could finished it.

First, I could not resist the small cute little packet of Nasi Lemak. It only cost RM0.70 and it’s cheap. Where can get in Kuala Lumpur? So I had two of it. Yummy. I love the sambal. It doesn’t have cucumber, egg or even anchovies as other.

Nasi Lemak

Unlike the normal nasi lemak, the sambal is not sweet and oily but rather it’s dry and spicy. Which I don’t think I could find it anymore in KL. I haven’t been tasted such nice sambal.

The sambal was so hot that I waited for my coffee to arrive. One hot and one cold. The taste of the Hainese coffee is different. Aromatic and soothing. It was roasted locally with charcoal and butter. That is why it tasted so different.

There are few selection of bread for you to choose from. From standard slices bread to bun or even wholemeal. I ordered one each with butter and kaya to go along with.

Toasted Bread

Total damage is cheap. Slightly more than RM10 for the selection I had which are 3 glasses of coffee, 2 pack of nasi lemak, 3 toasted bread and 2 half boiled eggs. I can’t find this in Kuala Lumpur, that’s for sure.

From the Outside

Actually, the Kluang Station Coffee or now known as Kluang Station RailCoffee as the name goes is the canteen of the Kluang railway station. The station was the major stop back then and many of the stops here then were meant for refreshments. So, the canteen serves something easy and fast. Hence the coffee and toasted bread.

If you google the Kluang Station franchise, it tells when it started operating which is in 1938. It is now operated by the 3rd generation of the Lim family.

Unlike the franchises, the original shop closed after 6pm. So don’t act smart and come by in the evening or on Thursday. They got off you know?
