Simple metaphor. Easy to understand and brief. It was my first book I read ever since leaving Setapak High. A good friend of mine gave me this book as a gift, after I shared my loss.
His intention was good. He wanted to let me know that life have to move on. Change is inevitable. The story inside the book just simply tells me that.
The main metaphor that being used inside this book is nonetheless the Cheese. Everyone is looking for cheese of their life. Be it the health, wealth, family or anything. The book is about a story telling another story. Story of 4 mini characters – Hem, Haw, Scurry and Sniff. How these people reacted when cheese has been gone.
Living in a maze (or a rat race), they ought to walk out from their comfort zone and venture for in search of the new Cheese. The book really define people I interacted in this society today. Some are like Hem, some like Haw. Other just a natural Scurry or Sniff.
Spencer Johnson did a very well writing on this book. It allows the reader to understand in depth of each character and the message he is bringing it out turn out to be very clear and concise. I would rate it far more better and everyone must at least read it once.
Just for a change.
