Merdeka 50

Merdeka in the English means independence day. Which means, we are free. Every year at this time of time, it would eventually reminds me of the day of Choral Speaking. I could remember it so clearly at the back of my head. So vividly like it happened yesterday.

“Dad, what does merdeka means?”

“Well merdeka means free son! Free to rule ourselves.”

We have came through a long way. 50 years is not short. A little passing by the half of the century and beckon on the changes nowadays. I’m just sometimes felt there is something missing? Are we being apart? The gap is growing? The hidden pendemic is slowly, gradually eating us up? When was my last time I sipping teh-O or kopi-O-kau with my buddy whom are not the same race of mine. I can’t recall anymore. The last closest friend I had, whom is Malay is now oversea. My brother, Azlan is currently residing oversea – Manchester. He is a friend I had and become close of after my secondary education.

Shall we choose and opt for the “don’t talk about it” and “silence” instead of being frank and open about everything. Just like the last time I went for business trip. My boss requested us to be open and share what we had in mind. In fact, no one wanted to share it out eventhough my bosses kept saying that they are not witch hunt. Everyone were skeptism and be wary. Their rice bowls – they had to take care for. Sometimes, we just had to put hold on it just because of it.

Why not we all just put everything behind. We are on our own now. No longer under anyone’s ruling but ownself. Yes indeed. Anyway, no matter wat… it’s where i was born. The air I breath, and the food I ate. I’m a Malaysian and God made me a Malaysian for a reason.

Happy Independence Day
