My Jalur Gemilang
It hurts me when I saw many flags were raised during the National month, which is the month of August.. the day we
celebrated our independence day. The day we declare freedom. Freedom to rule the country, freedom to rule ourselves.
It was back in Standard 3, I had my first role model – my teacher Cikgu Ainol. He highly recommended me to be the prefect
to the board. The following year later, I became the prefect together with my buddy, Jerry Lim Boon Kiat.
Somehow that since Standard 4 till Standard 6, I was in charge of the flag. Everyday I need to go to raise the flag and retrieved it whenever rains or the school ends the day. It was a special moment to me on every Monday where I assigned to raise the flag during the assembly.
During the 3 year course, I begin to respect the flag – Jalur Gemilang now they called it. It meant a lot to me seeing it up there in the sky.
As the ‘patriotism’ act, our citizen putting the flags up on their vehicles, and it hurts me to see the flags being abuse. It wasn’t the right way to raise the flag. To me, I rather we raise it on a flag pole rather on the vehicle! Come on.. you left the flag under the rain, getting itself drenched and dirty. At the end of the day, you just discard it to the bin. Is that the right way to raise the flag?
Anyway, love the flag please.
Happy Merdeka Day, Malaysia!
