Playing Grown Ups

Do you remember we used to play together when we were kids? I still remembered how we used to roleplaying adults. Trying to portray to be someone we wanted to be. Once you acted like a doctor. There is also some other time you just want to be a mother and a home maker. Making meals for the kids coming home from school. Then there are also times you wanted to have excitement in life. To lead a boring life not, we headed up to the space shuttle to explore the infinite and beyond!

Now we are all grown ups. Back then it was fun trying to be adult. Chasing the excitement in life – sometimes you are having tea party, in a Lala Land. There were not much to worries about. Life is good. Hitting the reality sucks.

Tea Party

It was with our imagination that these came to real. It doesn’t even cost a cent. Mind was working with us. Making it seems possible. As we grew up, we learned that there are things that cannot be attained. Or we just simply give up. No longer having the wildest dreams when we are still the kids, playing grown up. It was part of the process but in reality, most of the time we just simply give in to the obstacle ahead. To quote from “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch, he said:-

“The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.”

If you were to ask me. I would say that I didn’t live to my potential. I know that the life is short. And we only lived once. So by now we should be making the best of out it. Sometimes, the challenge ahead might seems to big to solve. Recalling a conversation with a buddy of mine. He once said that he heard from some Japanese animator or something. He said that if the problem that you are dealing with is too tough to be solved, leave it aside. Work on the bigger problems. By the time you are done with the big one, the one that you put aside will be simply piece of cake. That’s true. Just like how we looked back at the examinations that we took. UPSR, SPM and what not.

So if were to take charge of our lives, aren’t we suppose to be the driver instead of the passenger? Going with the flow is equivalent to being a passenger. You not sure where you heading and you cannot be ascertain that the driver will lead you to the right place. What happened if the driver fall asleep and heading to the gorge. You are going to die with the driver. DIE!

So take control of own life. It’s no longer playing grown ups. It’s for real and there’s no NG in this life. To conclude this, I wanted to borrow a line from the Repo Men

You owe it to your family, you owe it to yourself
