Salesperson A Pimp
My boss often tell me that being in the sales line suck the most. When everyone asked me what I do for living? I deliberately tell them I am a salesperson. I provide solution to my customers. Most of them don’t understand the nature of the job hence I have to explain to them that I work as a pimp in the IT world. I sell solution to my customers mostly on the network part.
Once a while I get the questions like, how do you do sales?, was it easy?, what do you sells? so on and so forth. When I joined the company, as my first sales job my boss told me that salesperson is the shittiest job you can think of. They are similar to being pimps. Like those Papa-san that trying to woo the customers to try out their stocks.
First of all, you have this terms called supply and demand. Prostitutes on the supply side while the customers are on the demand side. Act of a salesperson is to sell the customer the services provided by the prostitute. In my case, my solutions from my principals. I need to make sure that the supply is available to be provided when the demand sets in. In the event the demand is low I need to generate the demand. Going out on cold call. Cross sell or up sell. Anything as long as you get the business in. Both the customers and prostitutes get to meet their needs. A truly win win situation and the pimp will make a living out of the commission.
Here’s the problem. A pimp will get fuck upside down, left right center back by the customers when the solution is not as expected. Hence the expectation is very important when dealing with difficult customers. You don’t want to create tension with your customers as you want them to return. What is good when there is recurring business? Who will wants to complain about it if the pay is good. That’s why they said that if you pay peanuts you get monkey. Why expecting the tip top services when you are willing to fork out a dime? That’s because the world is getting competitive. When we cannot go for globalization in fear of the economy, we decided to head for localization to protect the business interest. That’s why sometimes, there are demand for local stocks.
Meantime, the prostitutes have their earning to keep and money to be made. They would put an expectation that the pimp will be able to draw more business for them. If the pimp cannot deliver the business, they will eventually leave and seek to join partnership with another pimp. That’s as simple as that. The pimp, us as salesperson also do get fuck by the prostitute when the dealings turn ugly. A perverted customers or a demanding customer. Worse when the customer caused so much problem that the prostitute think it’s a pimp problem for bring such customer.
As a salesperson, I am acting as a pimp negotiating a right price for both the prostitute and customer. I get the keepings for the between profit. It is a fair trade. Yes, along with that lucrative pays as we get to be fucked by both end left right center back.
