Samsung Malaysia Electronics

Updated : I’ve put up my thought and complain here in the Facebook. Not sure if they will respond to it or deleting it. Screencap it for future tracking. Link here and the discussion topic here.

Here’s my question:-

If they are replacing my motherboard, how could the sim card panel got damaged? Both are totally separate thing.

If it’s both come together in a single board, does it mean that the service center replace my motherboard with a refurbish/faulty/secondhand parts?

When I was told that Samsung released Froyo for the Malaysia’s Galaxy S, I went to upgrade via KIES. The default application provided by Samsung Mobile for the update. It ended up causing my phone to be bricked. Unable to run 3-buttons recovery mode, I had no choice but to send it back to Samsung Service Center.

At first, I contacted Maxis since it was under the Maxis Phone plan. Then I was told that they will replace with a new one if it’s faulty. Looking at the urgency, I called up the contact center as well as email to Samsung ERMS. The answer still the same which is sending it back to Samsung Service Center for repair.

I was told that I need to leave my unit there while pending for the spare parts to arrive. They told me that they need to change the motherboard since they couldn’t do the recovery. Fine with me. I received a call last evening informed that the unit is fixed. I could come to collect it. Happily a couple hours ago I drop by the service center to pick up the phone. Everything seems to be working fine except that there wasn’t any SIM card detected. Fine, I thought I could do it at home later to test the phone.

Spoil SIM Card Panel caused by Samsung Service Center

When I reached home, I was wondering how come the phone still couldn’t detect the SIM? I googled for the SIM Card panel and found that there are something missing from my SIM card panel. It was a faulty panel. Likewise claimed by my friend, these people could be using a refurbished board. Ouch. It hurt.

Now I will need to make another trip there to get it done. Have call them to confirm that they have the SIM card panel before sending over. I don’t want to leave the phone there with them anymore. It seems no one can be trusted. Not even the manufacturer themselves. Disappointed with Samsung Malaysia Electronics. icon sad Samsung Malaysia Electronics
