In Celebrating Songkran

February 23rd, 2010

We had a roadblock. An obstacle. The kids were armed with water guns. We couldn’t pass that area to get out from the Chatuchak.

After we checked in at the airport, we got about an hour to kill. Asking Thomas what’s his plan, he was counting 1-2-3.

Time for final round of massage perhaps? We manage to find one last massage center. It’s Chang Foot Massage. For your info, three of us fell asleep in there.

By the time we are done, it was almost the boarding time. We had again to run towards the gate. :D Otherwise we got stuck in Thailand. LOL.

Cabbages and Condoms

July 17th, 2009

Highlight of the day – we went for dinner here.

Cabbages and Condoms

Why? Simple reason – sex sells. Condoms related to sex. Bangkok is all about sex. Boom boom girl and happy ending. Not really though. There are food and more food involved here. It is hell lot cheaper compared to my homeland. Yes. Let us not dwell in ranting bout the cost of living in KL for the moment.

Out of all places for dinner, we opted for the c&c purely because of its noble intention.

As one of the most unique restaurants in Metropolitan Bangkok, the Cabbages and Condoms (C&C) Restaurant has attracted international attention. Conveniently located near one of Bangkok’s main business districts, C&C is very popular among local and foreign clients.

Our restaurant was conceptualized in part to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning and to generate income to support various development activities of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA)

We also provide catering services to meet all requirements. And remember, our food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy.

So, here are some of the scenes from that night dinner. The food rated above average. Not knowing what to order we all play ‘tembak’ on the menu as everyone seems to be tired but eager to move on to the next destination after the dinner – skybar.

Cabbages and Condoms - the scene

We ordered some food. Nope we are not being served with condoms instead. Just getting a pack of condom each as dessert. Promoting safe sex. Wingz do have a couple of pictures taken from his A200. I just cannot seems to find words or sentence for it. A little lost I guess.

But thanks to MAS, I were able to be there and enjoyed the time there. Especially without the need to go to look for boom boom girl. After we got back from the Skybar, practically 3 of us were wasted while going for the foot massage. More saucy pictures coming in the next Bangkok Trip post.

Wat Po Wat

July 2nd, 2009

After walking under the blazing sun, the sun begin to set. At this moment, we are heading to Wat Po. Under the guide of Bob as we call it since neither 3 of us can remember his name.

Bob

Took some pictures at Wat Po. Most of the Wat has been closed temporarily as they are preparing to embrace the Songkran festival the next day.

Wat Po

Again

Until we get tired and wanted to go back to the hotel. Having plan to go to Cabbage and Condoms, it was best in mind that we take some rest before heading out again. So, we told the guide that we need to go back to the hotel at 5pm irregardless.

Further added that we are no intention to buy any gems or stones or whatever shit they wanted to bring us to scam. So while at the place, I took few of the shoots before going back to the hotel.

We reached office after we stop by the McDonald’s for snack. A light snack. Yeah right~
More later about the C&C which excites Wingz. Do not ask me why. I guess he was kind of horny as well. LOL-ed. Bear in mind that it was the first night and we kind of exhausted ourselves.

Following up from the trip with the bloggers a.k.a. the ahBengs trip, we reached to the MUST VISIT location in Bangkok. If you never been to here, it is as you have never stepped into the Land of Smile.

We engaged Bob as mentioned by Thomas earlier. Here we went – The Grand Palace !!!

Chao Phraya River

May 4th, 2009

Embark on the journey to discover the Bangkok through the view of Chao Phraya River, our tour guide bombarded us with many facts and stories.

Scene from Chao Phraya River

Scene from Chao Phraya River

The tour guide told us about the water orchid thing and the monitor lizard. He said that the king was so smart and intelligence that he was the one that order the monitor lizard to be placed in the river. The monitor lizard will clean the river and cleanse it. As for water orchid, it was meant to clean the river through the smell so it would not be so smelly.

Scenes from Chao Phraya River

Scenes from Chao Phraya River

Through the view in the Chao Phraya River, as we pass by the canals the tour guide told us that there are few area whereby the place the Burma attacked the country. We then listen and listened till Mr. Thomas fell asleep.

We laced through some canals and realized that no wonder that Bangkok was called the “Venice of the East” by the European tourists.

We ended the river tour when we reached the Grand Palace. Even though Bangkok has become a modern city today, for those who seek for the slow and peaceful pace amidst the bustling Bangkok can opt for the Chao Phraya River tour.

Discovery of Thai

May 1st, 2009

After checking into the hotel, we waste no time but to go around for places to shoot.

Lotion – checked
Sun block – checked
Cap – checked
Camera – checked
Money – checked
Passport – checked

and off we go. We got ferried by the free joy ride from the Courtyard Tuktuk service to the Ratchadamri BTS station. From there we headed to the nearest station to look for the Grand Palace as our first destination. From Ratchadamri station we took the train from to alight at Saphan Taksin station.

Saphan Taksin

We got on to the deck waiting for our ride to come. We looked a the modern high rise building in Bangkok while knowing that we will be heading towards the other side of the city full of historical buildings.

Bangkok view of high rise building

The city was quite deserted due to the upcoming Songkran festival as well as the recent turmoil in the Bangkok and Pattaya. A lot of them have left the city as welcoming the Songkran holiday. That’s why it was not that traffic congestion after all. Look at the quiet station at Ratchadamri.

BTS Station - Ratchadamri

and then comes our ride to the designated rendezvous.

We reached the destination. Looking at the option, we decided to opt for getting a guided tour. Choosing the LS&H Travel Co. Ltd. which parade the booth at the station. We left our tour consultant to decide and negotiate with the operator.

As we begin the guided tour, we came across the stall selling street food. Again, the temptation of not trying the huge ass hot dog like food again is irresistible.

Thomas bought the food and he tasted it. He says its very good and everyone should try it. If you never had those, it means you never been to Bangkok. Wingz and I were like WTF?! Wtf?!

The real journey embarks here. We reached the ’shitty’ as mentioned by the local. It is the jetty at the river side awaiting for our next ride.

the wonderful courtyard

April 22nd, 2009

The first question that I was being throw at was, “Is Dale gay?” from Thomas to Wingz. He was afraid to sleep in the same room with me when we are in Bangkok. Taking precaution. Heck hell that he was doing the ground arrangement for our accommodation in Bangkok. He opted for the high class hotel in order for us to pamper ourselves. In this case, I think he pampered himself more. Note: remember the fella sleeping like a prawn cuddled himself up in a robe? that is the one. *lol*

Courtyard Marriott

Courtyard Marriott

Thomas told us that he decided that we should stayed in Courtyard by Marriott in Bangkok as it was the best location as it is central of Bangkok. The heart of the town. Furthermore it is near to the BTS SkyTrain System, Erawan Shrine, CentralWorldPlaza and much more, which I have no idea what the heck Thomas was talking about until I was there witnessing it. Found out that the hotel we stayed is rated as 5-stars hotel.

Reception Counter at Courtyard Marriott

The moment I stepped down from the limousine, I do not even feel like leaving the hotel anymore. The place is so nice with the openness design. It looked so spacious and the next thing I knew, Wingz and I were trigger happy. Shooting non-stop while waiting for our friend, Thomas to check in. Effective support and services from the receptionist – Mr. Toto.

As I loiter around, I notice that the hotel do provide facilities such as safe room and business center. Speaking about the safe room, the in-room that we stayed comes with a safe that can fit 3 notebooks, 4 handphone and a couple stash of cash from Wingz. Ehm. We checked in before going on the hotel tour guided by the Courtyard Bangkok General Manager, Mr. Nicholas Tse. He was friendly and kind to show us around the hotel.

I’ll leave the suspense of the room to Wingz and Thomas. I am kinda sad because Wingz disapprove me from posting his sleeping pics. ^^!

By the way, the damage we incurred for the hotel accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights thanks to our mr. tour consultant – thomas! Staying in a 5-stars hotel and

The booking can be done through one of the KL top tour consultant, mr.thomas. He can he contacted at yapthomas(at)gmail(dot)com

first immigration clearance

April 20th, 2009

At the age of 27, being the first time traveling oversea is really something I not sure whether I should be proud of or not. In fact, I would not have the opportunity until the other day when one of the Ah Beng decided that we should go for Bangkok. I thought they were just joking when suddenly I was being informed that the flight and hotel arrangement was done.

Web Check-in

Web Check-in

I was taken aback and due to the earlier commitment, I eventually had to go to get my passport up in order to travel to Thailand. Thomas told me that all of us will be traveling via Malaysia Airlines. Being excited with the travel, I was over packed for the trip. Thus, it actually clogging the luggage bag from getting more stuff back from Bangkok. On top of that, I also regret bringing small luggage which I should be able to fit 20kg check-in luggage. Otherwise I could bring the entire Bangkok back.

On Departure

On Departure

On the final round before we meet up for the departure, we were instant messaging each other while I was trying to confirm the stuff need to bring. What to do, it was my first time traveling this far. Anyway, been an eager beaver I checked in earlier than Wingz and Thomas. I tried out the web-based check-in. It was easy piece of cake to get myself check-in. Apparently I need to check in in between 24 to 1 hours before the check-in time. If there is less than 1 hour before check-in time, one is required to use the counter check-in. The rojaks ended up queuing up.

Entrance Gate G6

Entrance Gate G6

Our flight to Bangkok was on the 737 at G6. It was an enjoyable ride as we mess around with the stewardesses for items such as blankets and pillows. As we take off, the cabin crew run a demo on how to put on safety belt and stuff like that. I did not paying attention as I was busy taking photos.

MAS Free Meal

MAS Free Meal

Not to forget the constant smile from the sweet Agnes Soh, she became the subject of my camera till touchdown. Along the path, the next thing that caught my attention was the food. I had a full meal from the serving and kept the Ferrero Rocher for later savoring.

Agnes Soh

Agnes Soh

Once we landed, I was like totally disbelief this is happening to me. I have finally touched my feet on the other ground. The other land. Felt like it was a huge step for me. Especially to be in Bangkok. We walked toward the immigration area to get the clearance and my devil mind started its actions. What if I could not get through? What if I were being suspected to be part of Thaksin group that on my way to Bangkok and causing riots? and the list goes on…

Immigration

Eventually I manage to get through the clearance and finally, I could see the smile. The land of smile. Spa, massage, shopping and tomyam here i come. *ps: i got my first stamp on the passport
