It appear at first to be a romantic comedy. However, as it goes on… it is so predictable. The storyline is so bland that you know what to expect and it kind of pissed you off when you know how the story will end up to be. However, it is good to have J-Lo back on the screen.

She looked so awesome and sweet, like usual. She doesn’t look like those in her 40s. Anyway, the movie was so-so with some supporting casts which make it less agitating.

The Backup Plan

Zoe (Lopez), who is having a hard time finding the man of her dreams, decides to have her baby alone in a sperm clinic. However, her plans may change when she meets and starts to like Stan (O’Loughlin).

and I like the part when Stan was told that by the time having third child, you don’t really much bothered about kids eating sands or playing with poo. Just not other people’s poo.

The verdict. This one still better than Sex and The City. I have totally, absolutely no idea what that movie was all about.

I like dark comedy. Kick-Ass is one of it. Dark. Humor. Comedy. Dry. Suits my taste of the genre. It really kick ass with Nicholas Cage on the screen. Based on the comic book, Kick Ass is directed by Matthew Vaughn that tells an ordinary teenager sets outs to be real-life superhero wannabe.

The hero was caught up in the fight between the Big Daddy and Hit-Girl with the local evil drug kingpin – Frank D’Amico. The entire film was in profanity and violence. That was awesome.

Deciphering the scene where Dave decided to put on a green wet suit and out to tried fighting crime on the street, what he get? An immediate visit to the hospital to treat his injuries. That’s the fact of life. As for the Youtube sensation, it was realistic to tell the world that we are on our own. When the hero was getting bashed by few guys, the crowd decided to pull out their mobile phones and record the scene. That’s very helpful, thank you very much.

The whole movie shines on Chloe Moretz who play the character Hit-Girl. “…contact the mayor’s office, he has a special signal he shines in the sky—it’s in the shape of a giant cock”. Playing such lines, who would have guessed it. Awesome.

Thanks to Purple Disc, I able to view this movie. I was wondering how come that it did not come to our shores. Maybe it was due to the fact it isn’t such a blockbuster?

Coming back to the movie, it is based on the Danish film Brødre. It is a drama movie, hence it is pretty much slow in pace. Just like previous ‘Sunshine Cleaning” I watched earlier. With the lineup such as Tobey Maguire,
Jake Gyllenhaal, and Natalie Portman, it is so good to be missed.

Tommy Cahill and Sam Cahill are brothers. Both totally opposite of each other. A Marine captain about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, Grace,with whom he has two young daughters, Isabelle and Maggie.

Tommy was totally opposite, a provocative guy with such charisma that melts anyone. His charms were shown in the movie when he poke fun of the bar owner.

Brothers

Meanwhile, the reality of war was shown over the other side of Afghanistan. Sam was forced at gunpoint to beat his soldier to death using a pipe. Later of the movie, Sam was drowning as he couldn’t come to term with his action – the brutally act of killing his comrade.

In the end of the movie, Sam was wondering if he will be able to continue the live a normal life after seeing the dead.

“Who was that said only the dead have seen the end of war? I have seen the end of war. The question is, how do I go on living? “

With the tagline, Life’s a Messy Business, who am I to disagree. In fact, it holds so much truth just behind a tagline.

Classified as the drama – tragedy, with a lot of bad things happening inside, I find it reflect the truth side of the world. Not every things are perfect. Not everyone born into this world perfectly. Not everyone born to a silver platter family. Not everything is a happy ending, happily ever after.

Sunshine Chealing (Movie)

Out of the common storyline, this movie is seriously fresh from the other. Non blockbuster. Non high profile actors in it.

The film tells a former high school cheerleader captain Rose Lorkowski is a thirty-something single mother who cleans houses for a living. She had a trouble-making son, at the age of 8-year old who was decided to put into a private school. She take the advise from her lover who is married not to her to venture in the crime scene cleanup business.

As everyone from the Lorkowski family trying to improve their lives, they are challenged with the trials in life. Upsetting them. But not to give up easily. Everyone worked so hard for it. Even the Rose father decided to put his house on the stake for the betterment of their lives.

It was seriously an indeed good film. Who wants to show the reality of life on the silver screen? No one wants to pay the money and get reminded that life is no fairytale.

Ip Man 2 took place in Hong Kong after he left the troubled China with his family. Being a stranger in new place, he had no other survival skills other than do what he do best – opening a martial art school. He had to overcome the challenges in the British Colony at that time including dealing with the other martial art practitioners. One of the local is the Hung Ga Society led by grandmaster Hung Chun-nam who played by Sammo Hung.

Ip Man 2 : The Grandmaster

Sammo Hung did the choreography for the predecessor and now return to the screen. With all the fighting sequences done by him, it was a blast. Everyone would loves to watch how Sammo versus Donnie. It’s like the clash of titans, one being the practitioner of Hung Ga, and the other is Wing Chun. Like the typical story, it resolves around the hero, now grandmaster trying to make a living. Kent Cheng played the middle-man, filling up the role of half-good half-crooked guy which played by Lam Ka-Tung in the first film.

It was an interesting film to watch. As compared to the first film, this film added few emotions here and there. I was taken on a ride especially on the fighting scenes. It was breathtaking seeing the intensity of the fight, exchanging moves and smears some bloods.

On the other hand, it was a transformation to see Lynn Hung who reprises her role as Ip Man’s wife, Wing Sing has now become a strong, understanding and supportive wife. From a young woman, she has grown up becoming a lady to support the husband. In the end of the film, only a 10-year old Bruce Lee show up.

Will there be Ip Man 3? I doubt so as it will be saturated. However, I do look forward for Donnie Yen next action flick – Legend of Chen Zhen.
