the missing call
What kind of rechargeable batteries should i choose? some recommending Energizer and the other say GP.
I woke up this morning missing a call. As I check my content, the call came from my cousin sister. In this post, let just call her A. Being quite some time since I last received her phone call. Must be something urgent I thought. It was around 7 am that my digital alarm clock, from Philips that awaken me.
Quickly I returned the call. My heart was beating fast. The thought raced through several matters that reminds me that the life is precious and short. It did not took her long to pick up my call. “Hello”, I said. I told A that I received her call and was wondering what caused her to call me in the middle of night. My phone was in silent mode I added.
She said that she had a phone conversation with her brother. Let just name him B for this case. B has been a serious gambler and caused a big hoo-haa few years back. Owe too much from the gambling and into serious loan shark debt. Now he is back on track running his small business or I would say being entrepreneur selling grilled fish. My cousin, A said that B called her and ask her to borrow him some cash. She said that she got no idea who she could ask for help and then came to me.
The thing is I do not have that much of cash to spare around. Although it is not much but the idea of loaning him the money is equivalent to throw the money to big deep ocean. It just will go flush down the drain. I knew the moment she said this, I have no choice but to reject to offer. It hurts me that my cousin B having financial instability but the idea of him doing nothing really annoys me.
Yet again, it is not for me to judge. What would you do if you are in my case? He is your cousin that you grew up with. You do not want to see him in this situation but then again, you feels like you cannot just help those who do not want to help themselves.
*sigh*

If you cant help financially, there are always ways to help? like, helping him to spread news of his business among your network or something?
or ermm…someone told me “emotional support” ..
But i think it feels bad to reject someone like our cousin..saying No is so difficult yet we have to say it..
Shelly, it ain’t as simple as it seems. Well… when it comes to emotional support, been there done that. It just aching when you see people don’t want to change.
We only can help those who help themselves.
Btw, an update was I did pass some cash to him.
