Ultimate Survivor Kaiji
An adaptation of the manga – Kaiji, the film is about a young man Kaiji Ito who moves to the city after graduating from high school and ended up become ultimate survivor in gambling of life and death.

The story begins with him spending his days gambling, and doing nothing. Considered as a trash of the society, he was approached by a debt collector named Endo who happened to work for Taiei Corporation. The debt was accrued since two years ago when he was acted as a co-guarantor. Now given his choice of spending 10 years working to pay off the debt or went on Espoir to gamble for a night and repay the debt with the possibility changing his own life as well.
So off he goes and the adventure begins. Nonetheless, the story was a little draggy and scenes was lengthen to build up the momentum and suspense. The movie was too much talking and slow pace. However, the exaggeration of emotions and expression truly manga/anime alike. I like that part.
