Watching Chen Zhen
Stuck between the heavy traffic of Kuala Lumpur and the option to go to 7aste at ECOBA, I ended up in the Curve. Partly because I promised Ryan that I will bank in the money for him. He said it is urgent because his due date is today. What to do, brotherhood is at stake. Besides, I do need to drop by Alliance too.
While at it, awaiting William to arrive and he suggested to watch the movie since no one is actually going to the 7aste event. Found out in the end it was Eric and Jerine who went for the event. Nonetheless, it was a film that we are watching. Here is my opinion of the film. Summarize in a sentence.
“A Chinese Bat Man fighting the evil Japanese over the city of China’s Moulin Rouge”
Starring Donnie Yen who reprise the role of Chen Zhen, a fictional character that is made famous by Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury. The cinematography yes indeed impressive. With the HDR view over the city of Shanghai, it was a scene to be admire of. Nonetheless, the objective of the cinema goers is to watch the gruesome killing and human beatings. Exchanging blows that will make you sick to watch any bloods smeared through the screen. However, this did not turned out as expect. All I getting was the fast blows alike from Ip Man.
The film is more of alike the combination of the Green Hornet, Chen Zhen, Batman and even debatable Yumi Yamaguchi. Played by Shu Qi as Kiki, the character in the movie. Her real identity was the Captain Yamaguchi. Sent in as a spy.
Overall, I felt the movie was too romanticized with lovey dovey elements.
